Clean-Up Day 2026
On Saturday, 19 September 2026, Berninox organised the third edition of its Clean-Up Day in La Neuveville.
Once again this year, residents, families, children, businesses and local community members came together to spend a few hours taking care of their town. It was a morning dedicated to collecting litter, but above all, an opportunity to come together, raise awareness and enjoy a shared community experience.
For this third edition, 37 volunteers, including 11 children, took part. Together, they spent two hours walking through La Neuveville and collected 23 kg of waste.
This was less than the 38 kg collected in 2025 and the 71 kg collected during the first edition in 2024. A trend we are happy to see as good news, especially since all 15 classes of the local primary school had also contributed by cleaning up the town centre the day before.
2,000 cigarette butts collected in just two hours
One observation, however, remains unchanged from one edition to the next: cigarette butts are still everywhere. This year, the 37 volunteers collected around 2,000 of them in just two hours.
Small and discreet, their environmental impact is far from insignificant. A cigarette filter contains numerous chemical substances, and a single cigarette butt discarded in nature can contaminate up to 500 litres of water.
At Berninox, we believe that sustainability is not just about the products we design or the materials we choose. It is also about the everyday actions we take and our ability to make a tangible difference where we live.
