We are Muriel and Julien, the founders of Berninox. We both work in the design, development, and communication of Swiss Made products, particularly for watches from the most prestigious Swiss watch brands. Our experience has taught us to work with a strong commitment to quality, sustainability, and functionality.

Applying these values to an everyday object quickly became an obvious choice for us. For the past years, we have been adopting alternatives to reduce our plastic waste. Yet, we found it particularly difficult to find a toothbrush that is both effective and durable.

Every year, 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are discarded worldwide, directly contributing to the current environmental crisis. We tried various alternatives such as bamboo and wood, but none fully met our expectations in terms of efficiency, hygiene, and comfort.

That’s why we decided to design an eco-friendly toothbrush while ensuring high hygiene standards and excellent brushing comfort.

To achieve this and ensure optimal efficiency, we collaborated with dental experts. We drew inspiration from professional dental instruments to design the handle in 316L stainless steel, a material known for its hypoallergenic properties, durability, impeccable hygiene, and high user comfort. As a result, we reduced plastic usage by 86% compared to a conventional manual toothbrush by prioritising high-quality recycled materials and Swiss manufacturing.

After months of design and development, we are proud to offer an effective and durable toothbrush. Our products stand out for their exceptional longevity and simplicity, without compromising functionality or hygiene. They carry the Swiss Made label.

Our approach

Today, our commitment is expressed through concrete choices. To give structure to this approach, we rely on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

At Berninox, we align our actions with Goal 12, which focuses on responsible consumption and production, by designing durable and refillable products intended to reduce waste and limit single-use plastic.

Through Goal 13, dedicated to climate action, we aim to reduce our environmental footprint by prioritising local production and carefully selected recycled materials.

Goal 14, dedicated to life below water, is also an important pillar of our commitment: we contribute to the protection of marine ecosystems by integrating ocean-bound plastic, collected before it reaches the oceans, and we aim to support NGOs engaged in marine protection.

Finally, Goal 17, focused on partnerships for the goals, reflects our belief that meaningful impact is built collectively, through transparent collaborations with partners, experts and organisations that share the same values.
