Nouvelle taxe européenne

New EU import charge

From 1 July 2026, a new European customs regulation will come into force for small parcels entering the European Union from countries outside the EU.

The new measure introduces a flat €3 import charge on certain low-value shipments, particularly e-commerce orders worth €150 or less. Its aim is to tackle unfair competition from some international online platforms that ship very large volumes of low-cost products into Europe.

Although the new rules are primarily intended to address large international e-commerce platforms, they also apply to Swiss companies shipping orders to customers within the European Union.

Why Berninox orders are affected

Berninox products are Swiss Made. They are designed and manufactured in Switzerland, at the heart of the European continent.

However, because Switzerland is not a member of the European Union, parcels shipped from Switzerland to an EU Member State are legally considered imports from a third country.

As a result, from 1 July 2026, Berninox orders shipped from Switzerland to the European Union will be subject to the new EU customs rules.

CH origin: it means Switzerland, not China

On Berninox customs declarations, the country of origin is indicated as CH.

CH stands for Confoederatio Helvetica, the official Latin name of Switzerland. It does not stand for China.

The country code for China is CN.

This distinction helps avoid any confusion: Berninox products marked with the origin CH are genuine Swiss Made products, and no component of your Berninox toothbrush comes from China.

What does this mean for Berninox customers in Europe?

From 1 July 2026, orders shipped from Switzerland to the European Union may be subject to:

  • a flat €3 import charge;
  • possible handling fees charged by the courier or postal operator;
  • potential delivery delays due to customs clearance.

At this stage, the exact way these handling fees will be applied has not yet been fully clarified. They may vary depending on the destination country, postal operator or courier.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to keep our customers informed with complete transparency.

Berninox remains proudly Swiss Made

This new regulation does not change the origin or the quality of our products.

Berninox toothbrushes will continue to be designed with the same commitment to excellence: gentle and effective brushing, durable design, maximum plastic reduction, and local manufacturing whenever possible.

Our mission remains unchanged: to provide a sustainable alternative to disposable plastic toothbrushes through a reusable stainless steel handle and replaceable heads that use significantly less material.

What we are doing

We are actively working on logistical solutions to minimise the impact of this new regulation for our European customers.

This may include adapting our shipping organisation, optimising our logistics processes, or introducing dedicated fulfilment solutions for orders delivered within the European Union.

Our priority remains simple: to continue providing our European customers with a clear, reliable and transparent shopping experience.
