On Friday, 19 September 2025, Berninox will organise for the second time the Swiss Clean-Up Day, a civic and ecological event that mobilises thousands of people every year across the country and around the world.
A national and international context
The Swiss Clean-Up Day is an initiative launched in 2013 by IGSU (Interest Group for a Clean Environment). Its aim is to raise awareness among the population about littering and to mobilise citizens for local cleaning actions in towns, countryside, forests and riverbanks.
This commitment echoes a global movement: the World Clean-Up Day, which takes place every year around 20 September and brings together millions of participants in over 190 countries. The goal is to rid our environment of litter and encourage collective awareness.
The values promoted by Berninox
For Berninox, organising this event means above all:
- Taking concrete action by picking up litter together in our region.
- Strengthening the bond with the local community and sharing a convivial moment.
- Supporting a healthier environment by affirming our opposition to illegal dumping.
Looking back at the 2024 edition
Last year, thanks to the mobilisation of residents and our employees, we collected 71 kg of waste in a single day. An impressive result, demonstrating both the success of the initiative and the need for awareness-raising.

The 2025 edition: even more mobilisation
This year, mobilisation will be reinforced with the participation of La Neuveville’s primary school, whose pupils will take care of the old town area during the morning. In the afternoon, the meeting point will be at the Gravière from 5 pm to cover the area and collect litter.
To close this day of commitment, a musical aperitif with DJ Extrastunden will be organised around 7 pm at the Gravière. A convivial moment to thank all participants and to celebrate our shared commitment to the environment.
We already warmly thank the Municipality of La Neuveville, the Tourist Office, the association Attraxion as well as local restaurants and shopkeepers who support us by contributing to the aperitif and the prizes offered to participants.
Together, let us make this Clean-Up Day a concrete symbol of commitment for a cleaner and more sustainable Switzerland.
